What a wonderful early 10 year anniversary trip to Jekyll Island with my honey, Jason! We had great feeling weather, good food, and fun trying out the Nikon AW100 camera that Jay bought me early for our anniversary (so we'd have it on the trip). We checked out Driftwood Beach at dawn on Saturday and then St. Andrews beach at sunset on the same day. So special! Thankful for the nice time together. :)

I close my eyes and see the dance in the my mind,
Though I can only hear it through the office window: The birds hopping across the ground and Flitting “quick as a wink” into the air As they chirp and tweet and sing. The chickens sak-aw and skree while pecking corn And bugs and hay in the yard. Squirrels chitter-chatter and climb circles around the trees, Hopping from bird feeder to bird feeder – Thieving little fuzz-butts! Bees, wasps and dragonflies are humming and Winging their way to wherever it is that Bees, wasps and dragonflies go in the early spring. All I can clearly tell is that they are busy – Like me. But the ivy and kudzu leaves on the old oak by the window Are rustling – I can hear it. And sharp little teeth munching – I can hear that, too. And, oh! To be in the grass in the shade by that tree with a book – But now is not the time for dancing, And back to working I go. New sandals - toes cool in the breeze,
Ice in the cooler and tunes in the wind: "I'll be two steps behind...yeah, yeah." Freshly cut wild onions sharp up the air by the pond, And our family is settling into pollen Covered chairs and down onto the striped Serape and patchwork quilts. Fishing is under way - Waiting to hear that the water's too cold... But, oh! Photos of the bass flopping on the line. The babies are here! We can hardly believe there are four of them now - Cute, coos and polka dots and one tiny pair of overalls. Love those Springtime smiles. Boiled peanuts seem incongruous with the Warmth and sunshine, but Yum! Fire ants and checkered tablecloths, Smile again! Let's try the other side of the pond... Little feet trotting ahead up the drive – Collecting rocks while the sun glints On blonde curls. Horses and cookies, Hold your hand flat to Feed treats. Can you put the new grill together? Neither can I, so Back to fishing. Oh! Not too cold; Too much green slime this time... Let's break for Grammy's German chocolate cake While the charcoal grays out in the twilight And the littlest boy learns to cast a line. "I need a bun holder," Dad says, And finally there are hot dogs just off The newly assembled hibachi. Warm red grapes, sodas in chunky ice, And shining bubbles blowing across the new grass - Could there be a more perfect afternoon? |
