Greetings from the sweltering South! Things have been going on at the farm, but at a slower pace because of the heat and humidity that we've been dealing with. It's too hot to ride most days, and certainly too dangerous to be out in the sun for long! We have, however, spent time getting the barn in order and making things more convenient. Also we've adding some fencing. We have new hitching posts on the front of the barn now so that they can catch the breeze, and have extended the goat pens to include a large wooded paddock so that they can have more room to play and more roughage in their diet. Yesterday, Dad and Josh fixed the lower pasture fence so that the donkeys could be turned out in there as opposed to just in the barnyard and paddock. They LOVE it! The picture above is of them grazing on the hill.
We have 7 new chickens, although I don't have good pictures yet. They are Frizzles, which is a very funny looking curly feathered type of Bantam and are really cute! I'll work on pictures for them soon. Thanks to Dianne Cox of Blythe for helping us out with these guys! :)
Moon Pie and Sally have settled in very well and we've been on a some nice little trail rides when the evenings have been cool. It's wonderful to me to be able to look at little Pie and see how well she's filling out and how much improved the rash and raw places on her rump are. We have her on the mend!
More to come later!
